The Gin Pot Story

Specialist Importers and Suppliers to the Gin Industry in South Africa

The Gin Pot story is deeply rooted in passion, innovation, and a love for all things Gin. Founded in 2017 by Ashley and Mandy Hobson, two dynamic individuals from the vibrant coastal city of Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Ashley, a well-travelled businessman and innovative farm boy, possesses an innate connection to the land and a profound appreciation for the bounty it produces. Mandy, adventurous, energetic with a legal background and entrepreneurial spirit, has boundless enthusiasm and a keen eye for detail. Together they were captivated by the explosion of small, boutique gin distilleries cropping up worldwide.

Their experiences’abroad and shared fascination for the burgeoning “Ginaissance” sweeping the globe, coupled with a deep-rooted love for artisanal craftsmanship, sparked the initial vision for The Gin Pot and so the journey began.

South Africa, with its own rich selection of traditional botanicals, quickly became the perfect canvas for The Gin Pot’s endeavours. The local landscape was ripe for innovation, with artisan distilleries springing up year after year, each pushing the boundaries of flavour and storytelling.

Each distiller, every distillery, with a unique blend of botanicals and captivating back-story, inspire the couple on their journey within the realm of gin. They envisioned a company that would provide top-quality botanicals to distillers, helping them craft exceptional world class gins.
